trying out some new old lenses

got three "new" old lenses from my grandpa since he was cleaning out his basement and doesn't need them anymore :) he's really spoiling me with all his old photography stuff! it's two 50mm lenses (Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f2.8 and another one I don't rememebr) and a zoom lens (Osawa 80-200mm f4.5).
naturally I had to take them with me to the zoo and try them out and they are quite good as soon as you're used to the manual focus

new lens: Tokina 28mm f2.8

I went to a flea market last saturday and purchased an analog Tokina RMC 28mm f2.8 for only 8€ :) ordered an adapter as soon as I found out which mount it is so I could use it on my digital camera. Today it finally arrived, so naturally I used the trip to the library to test it out.

the guy at the photography store said it won't compare to a digital lens, which I already expected cause it's a third party lens and an adapter is necessary. so I thought those definitely won't benefit the quality of the pictures, but I think it's doing quite ok on my Olympus :) ESPECIALLY for the price I paid!!!

self portraits are a little hard and took quite some time since you have to focus manually...

also took my first steps into freelensing. takes some time to get it right and most of the shots are out of focus, but I'll definitely will try it again

will try it out in the Zoo the next time I work and will also try to get a proper pictures of the baby giraffe that's been born in Schönbrunn!!!

first steps into the world of analoge photography

got my developed film back yesterday.

they are far from perfect, the focus is off on some pictures and the pictures in general have a yellow-ish tone and have a lot of noise, but those (especially the focus and noise thing) are things I expected. and while they are not perfect, I kinda love the old film look they have.

since I'm definitely planning to explore the world of analoge photography more, I thought about a way to keep the costs for film and developing to a minimum. took me almost all day, but I've finally figured out how to convert a photographed color negative to a postive using PS. haven't perfected it yet, but the finished pictures are viewable ;) so yeah, that'll definitely save some money on picture developing

just for comparision, the store developed picture (rigth) and the photographed negative side by side.

they both have the pros and cons, but I kinda prefer the left one color wise.
