water and strawberries...

it's been a while since my last entry, so it's really time for a little update :)

I've seen those kind of pictures where people throw a piece of fruit in the water and snap the water splash a lot on the internet. and I always thought you'd have to have a tripod to get any good one, but since laura did one of those pictures too and told me that she didn't use one, I thought I'd give it a try
I'm not entirely satisfied with the result. dunno why, I guess I always find something I don't like at my own pictures, but I think they aren't that bad for the start.
I think I took about 300 pictures and out of those I had just a couple that were useful.

at first I tried it with a kiwifruit, but it didn't really work as good as with the strawberries. I'm gonna try it with some other fruits the next time, so there'll probably come more pictures like those ;)

Okay you suck....I mean that in a good way.

THOSE ARE FLIPPIN AWESOME!!. What the heck are you dropping them in...don't say water, i mean is it like in a bathtub, in a pool, seriously what did you do!. I think they came out amazing, and yeah I took a TON of pics and the ones I posted were pretty much my good ones to...they dont compare at ALL to yours.

Right I need better water, better strawberries, I gotta figure the shutter speeds better I think and how to capture it like that with the drops its just so perfect. Guh, uber jealous right now!.

How did you make out with not getting the camera wet, that was one of my biggest worries to with dropping it with one hand, taking the pic and making sure the splash wasnt high.

Right, im just gonna stare at these now. *does so*

lol I just filled the kitchen sink (steel) with water and then dropped the strawberry in. I used a very short shutter speed, so the drops and the fruit would freeze and also the flash of the camera. after that it looked like that

so I used PS to crop it and turn the water blue ;)

my camera did get a little wet, just a few drops, but since it survived snow too, I wasn't too worried about it lol

glad you like them :)

Hmmm we have a steel sink to, I will have to give it a shot. I was using a faster shutter speed so I will give it a shot. Maybe I will pull out the tripod to but give it a go without using it. If im not mistaken the slower the shutter speed it takes a little longer to like develop so you cant like at ALL move the camera...still I will see what happens.

For the photo untouched it just proves that everyone does something to a photo LoL. How full did you fill the sink, lookin at the pic seriously it looks like you may have enough to just cover the bottom. Hmmm must try LoL! Like I said mine was experimentation number 1...theres gonna be more tests definatly to see what works better. If I had like the white wall and actual set up for professionalizing a photoshoot, id prolly set up a bowl of milk to. Right now just gonna stick with water.

Yeah mine was safe in the snow to. It was being out in a thunder and lightning storm that killed it you need a water proof camera or one you can buy underwater housing for...and even those I dont trust id rather just have a waterproof camera. But a few drops dont worry me long as I wipe it with a towel or dab it etc.

lol of course everyone photoshop pictures, otherwise they'd look all boring hehe

it wasn't that much water actually, just enough so there would some nice splashes, but the fruit always smacked on the sink.

I was thinking about trying it with milk too. I bought oreo cookies today, so I might try letting those drop in the milk that weekend ;)

can't wait to see your pictures
